The Vax Rapide Ultra 2 (model W90-RU-P) is the backbone of Vax’s carpet cleaner range and is priced competitively between the cheaper Vax 6131T and (much) more expensive Vax Dual V and Vax All Terrain models.
This machine has been around a while but offers a lot of typical “mid-range” features. Cleaning power is provided by a 1000 watt motor which is less than the more expensive CleanView ProHeat (1400w) but still offers excellent suction performance.

In terms of the “business end”, the Vax Rapide Ultra 2 features powered jets to drive the water & solution deeper into the carpet and a rotating brushbar designed to work the carpet fibres. There is no water or carpet heating unit on this model.
The water tanks on the Vax Rapide Ultra 2 are a good size at 4.5 litres clean water and 3 litres dirty water, which should save on trips to the sink. However the dirty tank can be difficult to clean as debris can get caught in the ‘V’ ducts. Minor irritations also include no fill level gauge on the clean water tank (you have to pre-measure or guess when adding solution) and the inability of the clean tank to stay upright when placed on a flat surface (more of an issue when adding solution).

Practicality wise, the power cord is 8m in length which is fairly typical and comparable with other Vax and Bissell models, although you do get an extra 2m (10m) with the Vax 6131T model. This model is no lightweight though at 10.7kg – not the heaviest but a full 2kg heavier than the Vax 6131T. This is something to bear in mind if you are going to be regularly moving between up- and downstairs, although most users comment that the weight is acceptable.
The Vax Rapide Ultra 2 is supplied with the usual upholstery/stairs cleaning tool but this model also comes with a handy pre-treatment solution and application wand; useful but don’t let this sway your decision though as you can buy pre-treatment sprays in any supermarket. The only criticism is around the strength of the tool retaining clip – sometimes this can break too easily.

When it comes to drying time, all users are unanimous in praise for the Vax Rapide Ultra 2 carpet drying time, mostly this can be attributed the powerful water suction provided by the 1000w motor.
It’s a good carpet washer for pet owners too.

Good cleaner for the money. I got mine at a good price from Amazon. Good results so far although the “wand” is a bit of a waste of time (in my opinion). Would recommend though.
