There are millions of people around the globe that have pets in their homes. By my last count there were several thousand in my auntie Mabel’s house alone – an ungodly mix of cats and spiders.
There is no doubt that owning a pet can bring many benefits to your life, but there are some disadvantages of keeping a pet too. For instance, did you know that your pet, or pet hair to be more precise, can ruin your vacuum cleaner? Most pets are shedding all the time and if we don’t use our vacuum cleaners in the right way they can end up clogged and eventually destroyed.
Pet hair can easily reach the wheels and rollers, leading to damage to the belts. In addition, they can suffer from dandruff which can clog the hoses and filters. The good news is that it is possible to stop animal hair from ruining your vacuum cleaner. By following these simple steps you should extend the life of your vacuum cleaner and keep your home healthy and clean.
Groom your animal
Grooming allows you to brush out unwanted hair. If this hair is left, it will definitely end up on the floor and you will have to use your vacuum cleaner to collect it. As we said before, animal hair can cause a lot of problems in modern vacuum cleaners no matter how sophisticated they are.
The following video looks like there’s nothing there, but I don’t know why. There IS a video here and it’s great! Get rid of pet hair super easily. Click play!
Vacuum on a regular basis
Now here’s some advice that is helpful not only if you have an animal in your home: You should not wait for weeks before you turn on your vacuum cleaner. The best idea is to use your hoover at least once a week.
Rely on the best tools for this purpose
In case you have finished brushing your furry friend, don’t use the vacuum cleaner to remove the hair from the brush. Use a bag or some other tools to gather the hair and throw it in the bin. It would be best if you can conduct this activity out of your home (on the balcony or in the back garden).
Just like any other electronic device, your vacuum cleaner needs regular maintenance. This is one of the best ways to extend the life of this helpful device. Every vacuum cleaner consists of different parts, but there are a few parts that are found in every modern vacuum cleaner.
This maintenance that we have mentioned should start with an inspection of the brushes or rollers. It is typical for human and animal hair to get stuck there. This will make your hoover harder to maneuver. So, check the brushes and/or rollers once a month and use a sharp object to remove the hair that’s stuck there. You should also take care of the belt which moves the rollers. In case the movement of your vacuum cleaner is difficult, then you must check the belt before it snaps.
Finally, don’t forget to clean the filters. Animal hair clogs these filters and after a while, you will notice that your vacuum cleaner is releasing an unpleasant smell. Clean them on a regular basis.
