Does your carpet have stubborn stains and you’re looking for a machine that can blast them away? Don’t want to hang around for half a day while your freshly cleaned carpet dries? Then read on!
This Bissell model is great for pet owners and claims to leave carpets dry within an hour. (That’s more or less true, but will depend on how airy your home is.)
We think this is a really good carpet cleaner – it’s easy to use, its design allows you to fix minor problems on your own, and there’s a generous 6 year warranty. It’s certainly one of the best carpet washers you can buy for under 300 pounds (prices do fluctuate a bit).
There are some niggles, which we’ll get into below.

Product Features and Technical Details
The capacity of its tank can accommodate cleaning water up to 3.7 liters. It has an adjustable cleaning mode which you can set to Deep Clean or Express Clean mode. Its hose and nozzle are both detachable and it has dual power brushes, which gets the carpet ultra clean.
It’s got an 800 watt motor – not the most powerful, but it only weighs 8 kgs, so it’s on the lighter side.
The tools included let you clean your furniture, too, and you can bundle it with some carpet shampoo and make a quick saving.
Bonus: It’s easy to replace the belts on the ProHeat 2X, which will expand the life span of the product and let you keep using it far into the future. A very welcome feature.
Pros and Cons
I am satisfied with the result after I cleaned our carpet. The slightly tired old weave regained some of its former fluffiness. Although the edges were not thoroughly clean, the middle parts and those that could be reached easily were really clean. Gone are the piles of dirt and debris that had accumulated on the carpet, including my pet’s shed hair.
The proof of its cleaning ability was the dirty water that filled-up the tank. It could pass for water in swamps! To think that stuff used to be on my floor. Glurgh!
The ProHeat Revolution is very easy to move around – if you can use a vacuum you can use this. Also, cleaning the stairs was not a problem at all as it was very light to carry. I could lift it with one hand as I cleaned each step of our carpeted stairs.
However, there are some downsides in using this machine. The machine was noisy to use. A lot of carpet cleaners are, but it’s still annoying to have to wear earphones or earplugs just to clean up a bit.
The hose is also not long enough. I had to lug it upstairs and plug it in up there to do the top of the stairs. I suppose that’s to be expected at this price point but wouldn’t it be nice to have a cheap machine that did everything you wanted? Sigh. Also, the hooks where the cord is stored are not wide enough to easily flex the cord.
Oh, and while it’s mostly easy to assemble, there was a moment when I was quite puzzled about the next step. Looking back it was obvious what to do, but somehow the instructions didn’t help me. Just a bit frustrating when you’re excited to try your new toy. I’m sure you’ve had a similar experience!
Who Should Buy This Product
The machine is highly recommended for parents who have toddlers and small children who play a lot around the house. Small children almost always drop anything they get their grubby mitts on, and your carpet is going to be little more than a glorified sponge for a few years. So if you’ve got a young family, this carpet cleaner is a good option because of the fast drying time. Tip – chuck a dehumidifier in the room to get it dry even faster.
Pet owners would also benefit. Pets shed fur every day and it is bound to accumulate and stick on your carpet over time. If you’ve got a few pets, you might want to check out the Revolution Pet – it’s very similar but more tailored to your needs. (A full review of that is coming soon.)
All in all, I give this product a rating of 8.5 out of 10. Don’t expect miracles on the very toughest stains, but do expect very clean carpets. If you haven’t cleaned your carpet for a while you’ll be amazed at the difference.
For a professionally cleaned carpet that you can do on your own, the Bissell ProHeat 2X Revolution is a great buy.
